Keyword : history
Keyword history is related to specify the input plasma conditions.
Choosing the density type
One should choose the density variables variables to dictate the evolution of the system: electron (ne), ion (nt) or mass (rho) densities
When one uses the hydrydynamic input file option to specify plasma conditions, one may have both electron and material densities fixed
electron density (ne) |
One can easily imagine situations where the electron density would be the evolution option.
Then the evolution of the level populations will be generated to be consistent with the given electron density and the ion density will be computed by charge neutrality |
mass (rho) or ion (nt) density |
The user may only have a mass density or the ion number density as a function of time.
In this case the calculations require the iterative solution of the populations to be consistent with density determined by the ionization balance. |
electron density and ion/mass density |
One may want to have cake and eat it too by specifying ne together with nt and rho.
Then the evolution will be done based on ne ,
while nt or rho is fixed.
The inconsistencies in the input and calculated electron densities will be printed out at run time. |
